This is because the server is offline, The server has been taken offline because the mods on it are outdated due to the beta 1.4 update. If you want to know more about this, I suggest you to view a few other threads regarding this subject. You can expect the server to be online again in a couple of days. Until then, go do something else for fun Wink!
